Kadin Fife, a four-star defensive lineman who had initially pledged his commitment to the University of Tennessee, has officially reversed his decision. This highly anticipated move now sees Fife joining the Louisville Cardinals' football program, as confirmed by Hayes Fawcett of On3.
Standing at an impressive 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 290 pounds, Fife hails from Cherokee County High School in Centre, Alabama. His talent has not gone unnoticed, with 247Sports recognizing him as the 50th-best defensive lineman in his recruiting class and the 19th-highest ranked player in the state of Alabama.
Tennessee first extended a scholarship offer to Fife on March 10, 2025, following a spring practice visit. He publicly committed to the Volunteers on November 21, 2025, but later announced his decommitment on June 24. Louisville, meanwhile, offered Fife a scholarship on April 5, 2025, despite him not having made an official visit to the Cardinals' campus.
Fife's recruitment journey began with an offer from Miami on February 12, 2025. His impressive skills quickly attracted attention from a multitude of other Division I programs. These included football powerhouses such as Alabama, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Texas, USC, Auburn, Memphis, Texas A&M, Penn State, Florida State, James Madison, UCF, Oklahoma, Maryland, Missouri, UNC-Pembroke, Mississippi State, Purdue, Middle Tennessee State, Sacramento State, Ole Miss, Florida, and Arkansas, showcasing the widespread recognition of his potential.
Despite Fife's departure, Tennessee's 2027 football recruiting class remains robust with 16 commitments. This class includes promising talents such as linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, defensive backs Carter Jamison and Brandon Leavell, tight end Malik Howard, defensive lineman Christian Mays, cornerback Dylan Haley, linebacker Kenneth Simon II, kicker Ford Fehling, long snapper Sam McKeown, offensive tackle Q’Mari Hudson, athlete Dayon Cooper, and safety Marcus Jones.
