Uniting Communities: Magellan's Bucks-Mont Food Drive Tackles Hunger

Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania, Inc. (Magellan) is spearheading the 3rd Annual Bucks-Mont Food Drive, a collaborative effort with Bucks County Behavioral Health/Developmental Programs, Bucks County Human Services Division, and Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. The drive aims to collect 3,000 pounds of food and non-food donations from September 16 to November 1, 2024, to support local food banks and pantries in addressing the growing issue of food insecurity in the region.

Empowering Communities, Nourishing Families

Strengthening the Safety Net: Bucks County Opportunity Council and MontCo Anti-Hunger Network

The Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC) and the MontCo Anti-Hunger Network will be the recipients of the collected donations, ensuring that the resources reach those in need across both Bucks and Montgomery counties. BCOC, a proud partner in this initiative, operates over 75 food pantries and distribution centers, serving over 40,100 individuals facing food insecurity in Bucks County alone. The MontCo Anti-Hunger Network, on the other hand, supports a network of more than 70 food pantries and free meal providers, playing a crucial role in addressing the growing hunger crisis in the region.

Collaborative Efforts: Magellan's Commitment to Community Wellbeing

Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania, the driving force behind the Bucks-Mont Food Drive, is a leading provider of behavioral health services in the state. Through its HealthChoices contracts, the organization administers behavioral health benefits in Bucks, Cambria, Lehigh, Montgomery, and Northampton counties, demonstrating its dedication to improving the overall well-being of the communities it serves.

Addressing the Hunger Crisis: Donation Needs and Drop-off Locations

The Bucks-Mont Food Drive is seeking a wide range of food and non-food donations to support families and individuals facing food insecurity. From baking essentials and canned goods to personal care items and diapers, the drive aims to collect a diverse array of items to meet the varied needs of the community. With 15 drop-off locations across Bucks and Montgomery counties, including police departments, hospitals, libraries, and community centers, the organizers have made it convenient for residents to contribute to this important cause.

Raising Awareness and Inspiring Action

The Bucks-Mont Food Drive not only aims to collect much-needed donations but also serves as a platform to raise awareness about the issue of food insecurity in the region. By partnering with local organizations and leveraging community resources, the drive seeks to inspire individuals, businesses, and community leaders to play an active role in addressing hunger and ensuring that no one in the Bucks and Montgomery counties goes without access to nutritious food.

Magellan's Commitment to Innovative Solutions

As a leader in the healthcare industry, Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania is committed to exploring innovative approaches to addressing the complex challenges facing the communities it serves. The Bucks-Mont Food Drive is a testament to the organization's dedication to collaborating with local partners and leveraging its resources to create positive, lasting change.
