By rewiring traditional toys operated by batteries and adding a simple button or switch, they become accessible and enjoyable for kids. As Rebecca Gettings, a board member, explains, "This button allows them to turn on the toy. They can activate it using the part of their body that is their strength, a hand, a finger, maybe an elbow. You put it behind a wheelchair and an elbow might be the best access point. It all depends on the strengths of a child." This innovative approach gives children the opportunity to engage in play and build essential learning skills.

Play is indeed the key to learning, and when children with special needs have access to play, they gain the ability to explore and grow. Board member Alexis Liggett started the nonprofit to bridge the gap between learning and play for kids with special needs. She and Gettings have firsthand experience with children with complex motor skills and understand the importance of inclusion. Liggett emphasizes, "Some of these toys can be over 100 dollars. Not everyone has money like that." That's why the nonprofit is dedicated to meeting the needs of local kids, ensuring that no child in Yuma County is left without a toy to play with.

The Impact So Far
